At the heart of Pharmafield: the birth and ambitions of the Pharmacop network

Pharmafield is innovating once again with the launch of its new hospital network: Pharmacop . Officially launched in September, this recent network embodies a clear commitment to hospital health, with a unique specialization: antiseptic products, essential in many stages of the patient care pathway.

A hospital mission serving healthcare professionals

From its inception, the Pharmacop network has distinguished itself by its clear mission: to promote the proper use of antiseptics such as Betadine and Dakin, while addressing the specific challenges of hospitals. Pharmacop acts as an educational and ethical partner for healthcare professionals, raising awareness of key issues such as infection prevention, antibiotic resistance, and the importance of rigorous antisepsis. Did you know that up to 33% of the population is a natural carrier of Staphylococcus aureus, a major pathogen of surgical site infections? These risks, inherent to the skin flora, underscore the importance of an educational and proactive approach to reducing infections.

A proactive and committed team

With 17 members recruited simultaneously, the Pharmacop team represents a dynamic mix of experienced delegates and new talents, all united by a common challenge: to structure and perpetuate this young network. From the first weeks, the spirit of cohesion allowed for a rapid increase in skills, supported by in‑depth initial training .

Myriam Madel , hospital representative, shares a striking anecdote: "During a visit to Martinique, I noticed open bottles of antiseptic without a date stamp. This simple reminder of good practices had an immediate impact on the establishment's protocol." This example perfectly illustrates the added value of direct exchanges between representatives and caregivers, making it possible to quickly identify concrete areas for improvement.

Adapting to post‑COVID challenges

The hospital landscape has changed profoundly since the health crisis, and Pharmacop has adapted nimbly to these new realities. Astride Hirominus , Regional Director, explains: “Healthcare professionals are inundated with emails; we have had to reinvent our approaches to adapt to new availabilities and ensure the relevance and effectiveness of our exchanges.” By prioritizing the quality of interactions, the network ensures that its messages reach their target, even in a saturated digital environment. With an average cost of 58 million euros per year in France for post‑surgical infections, it is imperative to act upstream to limit these expenses and preserve hospital resources.

Ethical values at the heart of practices

Pharmacop doesn't just promote products; it's based on strong ethical and sustainability values. The network promotes solutions designed to minimize their environmental footprint, such as recyclable packaging and reducing the amount of plastic used. This positioning is essential in a sector where corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming a key criterion for partners and customers.

An ambitious vision for the future

The Pharmacop network has set clear objectives for the coming year, including:

  • Maximize hospital coverage to increase awareness of Betadine and Dakin. In Europe, a surgical infection can triple treatment costs and prolong hospitalization by more than six days on average. The goal is therefore clear: prevent these complications to relieve healthcare professionals and the hospital system.
  • Develop a city‑hospital dynamic , in order to ensure continuity in the use of products between the different health stakeholders.
  • Combat misinformation related to certain products by providing more training to healthcare professionals on their uses and benefits.

For Astride Hirominus , Regional Director, the potential of the Pharmacop network is immense: "We have the means to become an essential ally in the fight against hospital infections. It is a responsibility, but above all an exciting opportunity."

Pharmacop: a growing network

Despite its recent creation, the Pharmacop network embodies the ambition and innovation that define Pharmafield. With solid foundations, a committed team, and a clear mission, Pharmacop is well positioned to play a key role in hospitals across France and the French overseas territories. One year after its launch, we look back on its achievements and impact, which promise to be significant.
